Welcome to the Graduate School of Education (GSE), Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It has been
more than 20 years since the Institute of Higher Education was founded in 1985, and we continue
to contribute significantly to the study of world-class universities, university evaluation and
ranking, graduate education and science policy.
As we look back proudly on our past achievements in both academic research and government
consultation, we realize that the road ahead is far from smooth. In order to maintain excellence
and compete with its peers across the world, we at GSE have to work harder than ever before.
These challenges, I believe, are also opportunities. As the dean of GSE, I pledge to do my utmost
to create a school that is beloved by its students from various parts of the world and recognized by
the world’s higher education community.
